Growing mushrooms at home is easier than ever!
At Fresh Shroomies, we love making gourmet mushrooms accessible and fun to grow — and our grow kits are a great way to bring the magic right into your home. Whether you’re a seasoned mushroom enthusiast or just getting started, our kits are designed to be simple and rewarding.
We offer two different methods for fruiting your mushrooms, depending on the type of mushroom and the look you’re going for. Both are easy to do and can yield beautiful results!
✂️ Method 1: Fruiting Incision
This is one of the most common and reliable ways to grow from a bag. Here’s how to do it:
Sterilize your cutting tool
Use isopropyl alcohol to clean your knife or scissors. This helps prevent contamination.
Make your first cut above the filter patch
This allows you to release excess air from the bag before sealing it back up.
Gently press the air out of the bag
This will help guide your mushrooms towards your fruiting incision.
Flip over or tape the top lip of the bag
This seals it up and holds its shape.
Sterilize your tool again for fruiting incision
Now make your fruiting incision on the front of the bag.( Your cut can be a “U”, “X”, or “T” shape — choose whatever works best for you! This cut is where your mushrooms will begin to grow)
🌱 After the Cut: Setting Up for Growth
Once your incision is made, place your grow kit in a shady spot with indirect light — somewhere it stays cool and gets a little ambient light each day.
Be sure to:
Mist daily to maintain humidity.
Growth can take a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the variety.
Every Mushroom is Different
Each mushroom variety has its own unique growing process — from preferred temperature to how long it takes for pins (baby mushrooms) to appear. Some are fast and dramatic, others take their time but produce big clusters.
